Artists
Miramar believes that skateboarding is art and a means to express one's self. As skaters and artists, we set out to fuse skateboarding with art on a whole new level by dedicating ourselves to working with the best, underground artists. Miramar is committed to supporting art communities and promoting artists globally. In 2009, Miramar opened the first Miramar art gallery. Located at 153 W. 2nd St. in the heart of the Pomona, California Arts Colony, the Miramar Gallery serves as Miramar’s office, warehouse and gallery showroom. The gallery has been an outlet for Miramar to exhibit work by Miramar artists and to support the local skateboarding and arts communities. In Pomona, Miramar hosts monthly art shows, live painting and skate demonstrations, the Sunday Jump skate/music/art festival, and has founded a youth outreach skateboard program with the dA Center For the Arts.
In order to truly reproduce our artists’ work, Miramar needed to break free from the limiting heat transfer printing process. Heat transfers have been reliable for decades, but are unable to support the range of color needed to reproduce our artists’ work to our standards. After several years of trials, tests and experiments, Miramar has innovated a new high resolution printing method. The process works like a tattoo, curing the colors into the wood with clarity and range that have never been seen in skateboarding.
